The Great Commission is a directive that Ohio Christian University and World Gospel Mission take seriously. Through OCU’s Student Center in 2018, World Gospel Mission Student Involvement Director Natasha Grimmett will be leading three separate teams of OCU students around the world to join in the long-term work that God is doing.
The first trip is schedule for March 2-9 to Choluteca, Honduras. A team of nine students will be serving alongside long-term missionaries there to complete a variety work projects and support the children’s ministry.
The second team will be serving in Cuzco, Peru from May 8 through 22. This team of 11 will be working alongside long-term missionaries to help with youth camps and in orphanages.
The third team will be going to Cambodia this spring to serve with long-term missionaries in the fields of human trafficking, church ministry, and children’s ministry. They will be in Cambodia from May 29 through June 12.
Our students are dedicated and passionate—fervently working to raise the funding for their trips. They are attending weekly team meetings where focus is on team bonding, fund-raising training, and learning about the country where they will be ministering in order to behave in country as culturally-sensitive and appropriate as possible.
The goal of these mission trips is to emphasize serving humbly and genuinely without posting the trips on social media for self-recognition. Our students recognize that we are not “taking God” to these countries, but instead are joining in the work that He is already doing in Honduras, Peru, and Cambodia.
Serving in these mission fields is incredibly rewarding and helpful to the long-term missionaries who often need just a little more manpower to complete key goals for their ministries. We are humbled and honored to be called to these trips and have high expectations for how God will move through our teams and within our teams this coming spring!
