

Ohio Christian University’s Summer Institute provides the opportunity for professionals, K-12 teachers, professors, university students, and high school students to complete online graduate or undergraduate level courses at a reduced rate.
OCU is also introducing ten new stand-alone certificate programs as part of the Summer Institute for anyone interested in furthering his or her skills in an area. Most courses begin June 1, 2020.
Graduate Level Courses for Teachers and Professors
These courses are designed to help K-12 and undergraduate instructors work towards a graduate degree. Each course lasts for 6 weeks and counts as 3 credit hours:
- Communications Studies: Ethics, Media & Society
- Interpersonal & Small Group Communication
- Modern Rhetorical Theory
- Introduction to Literacy & Cultural Theory
- Probability
- Teaching of Algebra, Grades 7-12
- The Early American Republic
- Social Change
- Current Trends and Topics in Education (1st class in the new Master of Education, not offered at a reduced rate)
Special Topic, 1 Credit Hour Courses
These courses are open to anyone who would like to expand their knowledge in the area. Each course lasts 1-2 days and counts as 1 credit hour:
- Understanding & Following Ohio’s New Professional Code for Educators (June 1)
- Google Technology Training (June 2-3)
- Trauma Informed Care III (June 4-5)
New Stand-Alone Certificate Programs
These certificates are open to anyone and are made up of 3-5 courses. Each course lasts 8 weeks and counts as 3 credit hours.

- Digital Multi-Media Production Certificate
- Entrepreneurship Certificate
- Emergency Management Certificate
- Grant Writing Certificate
- Health Information Technology Certificate

Undergraduate Level Courses
These courses are open to students in OCU’s Traditional, Online Plus or Trailblazer Academy Programs. Each course lasts 8 weeks and counts as 3 credit hours:
- Oral Communication

- Introduction to Psychology
- Introduction to Astronomy
