2019 Spring Trip to Learn Education Excellence in Finland and Sweden image

Learn how the Finnish and Swedish secondary school systems provide world-class education for their students.  These globally top-rated schools maintain their excellent quality of education without homework or standard tests.

Cultural experiences throughout this tour of Finland’s Helsinki and Sweden’s Stockholm give participants an enriching perspective on Scandinavia’s culture and progressive educational practices.  Registration is open now for this once-in-a-lifetime trip that begins in mid-May, 2019.

According to OCU Teacher Education Department Chair, Dr. Valerie Jones, “Our aim is to learn worldwide educational best practices that we may incorporate here.  Perhaps we will write a paper and give presentations to our professional groups here to share what we learn that can improve our current methods and practices.  Our faculty and students will collaborate in this intercultural best practice sharing.

The tailored itinerary begins with an overnight flight to Finland, where the tour director meets the group at Helsinki’s airport and leads their initial tour of Helsinki, followed by a group dinner.  After another guided tour of Helsinki the next day, the group will participate in a Finnish education workshop and learn about Finnish education practices at a globally top-rated school.  While experiencing Finnish secondary education first-hand, participants will enjoy lunch in the school’s canteen.  The group then will have the afternoon free to explore Helsinki.

The next day features visiting to a local library and participating in a Finnish cultural event, followed by taking the overnight ferry to Stockholm.  In Stockholm, an expert guide will lead a highlights tour that includes the famous Vasa ship museum and a group dinner.  While in Stockholm, the group will visit another top-rated school to learn about the Swedish education system.  They will complete the final day with a walking tour of Stockholm, before returning to Columbus.

Participants will meet Scandinavian educators and learn about best practices and the ways they are impacting students so successfully.  This educational systems immersion trip includes round-trip airfare, transportation, accommodations, full-time tour director, expert guided sightseeing, entrance fees, regional-style meals, and end-to-end support.

The eight-day excursion departs from and returns to Columbus, Ohio.  Cost is $3,500, payable in installments.  Only Teacher Education students may register.  Ten spots are filled.  Ten more are available.  Enroll now at www.efcollegestudytours.com/2078083SF!  Questions?  Email Dr. Jones at Vjones3@ohiochristian.edu.
