Ohio Christian University (OCU) hosted its first My Future event on Saturday, May 14th, starting a new tradition of inviting homeschool and Christian school students to experience a day focused on professional development and college preparation. Keynote speaker Jeff Keaton with Renewanation spoke on the importance of a Christian worldview as young students prepare to influence the world through their future endeavors. Stephen Carter with the Seed Tree Group spoke on financial literacy for all ages, and Dr. Caleb Friedeman with OCU’s Theology and Ministry Department taught on the fundamentals of Biblical Sexuality. Additionally, President Jon Kulaga shared about the Christian worldview Ohio Christian offers its students during his session called The OCU Experience. The day also included a resume-building workshop with OCU’s Career Services director, Eric Fehr, and a vendor fair for parents and guests to attend.
At the conclusion of the My Future event, registrants received a recommendation letter from the Vice President of Enrollment, Phil Hooks, confirming their attendance and participation in the My Future event as proof of their commitment to continual professional development. The students are encouraged to show these recommendation letters to future employers and/or college admission boards. One of the My Future attendees was selected for a $12,000 total scholarship to Ohio Christian University, and the recipient for this year’s My Future Scholarship was Elizabeth Zelenka. After a great launch event, the OCU Admissions team is excited to host My Future again!
