On Thursday April 18th, Ohio Christian University School of Business and Government presented Tom Minnery with its annual Faith & Liberty Award. The Faith & Liberty award has been presented for eight years to a person who demonstrates unwavering commitment to a Christian Worldview and who has shown continual perseverance as a leader in both faith and freedom. Additionally, the person awarded the Faith & Liberty Award has shown exceptional contributions in furthering faith, freedom, and liberty in the United States. Tom Minnery joins past recipients including Dr. Dave Garrison, Ken Blackwell and most recently Tony Perkins.
Minnery currently serves as the Chairman for Citizens for Community Values and prior to his position served for more than 25 years as the Vice President of Public Policy at Focus on the Family. He is a founding member of the Alliance Defending Freedom Board of Directors and former chairman of the board. He previously served as the senior editor of Christianity Today magazine and Capitol Hill correspondent for Gannett News Service. After receiving the award, Minnery spoke to students about his life and how he had seen his faith displayed in the public sector.
The Faith & Liberty Award is a valued tradition within the School of Business and Government. Oftentimes it can be easy to forget the number of Christians serving in the public sector and fulfilling God’s call on their life in a way that is becoming increasingly common. The Award and the recipients of it serve as an example to students that their work is their ministry.
