Trailblazers Boast 24 RSC Spring Scholar Athletes

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- The 2020 River States Conference Spring Sports Scholar
Athlete list released last week boasted 24 Trailblazer
student-athletes. To be named, student-athletes must have a 3.25
grade-point average or higher, have at least two semesters of attendance
prior to the current term, participate in an RSC sport and be nominated by
their institution. The NAIA sponsors a similar award program of the
NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete, which is awarded to juniors and seniors with
a 3.50 GPA or higher.

Maynard Elected President of Student Council

CIRCLEVILLE, OH – Looking to further his impact on the OCU community
following his second year on campus, Zach Maynard decided early this Spring
that he was being called to a unique position: President of Student Council.
After wrestling with the idea and lots of prayer, Maynard decided to enter
the race, leading to him being elected earlier this month. "When deciding to
run as Student Council President, I first found the idea as daunting. It was
a stomach-turning feeling that felt as if I was supposed to go after the
position, but the fear of failure was telling me to not follow

CIRCLEVILLE, OH – A familiar face is once again killing it for Ohio
Christian University, only this time her impact is being seen off the court.
Lauren Ray, a 2018 Emergency and Disaster Management graduate of OCU,
currently serves as the Assistant Director of Student Life – Housing and
Discipline, a role she took over earlier this year. Lady Trailblazer
Volleyball fans will remember Lauren as a key member of the program, playing
for the team for three seasons (2015-17). Originally from Canal Winchester,
OH, Lauren transferred into OCU following her freshman year at Ohio
University,

Ohio Christian Announces Steps Challenge To Student Body

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - OCU Student Intramurals has started an OCU Step Challenge
for the student body, beginning immediately and open until May 14th. If you
wish to participate you will need to: - download the count.it app
- create an account - select Ohio Christian University as the
group That's it! The app will track your steps from your phone or a fitness
watch. Steps are calculated as such: Every 10,000 steps is equivalent to 100
Count.It points. So walk/run/jog to accumulate points! Get active, get

Faculty Profile: Dr. Caleb Friedeman

Dr. Caleb T. Friedeman recently joined Ohio Christian University’s Religion
Department as Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies. A disciple of Jesus
Christ with a passion to serve the Church as a pastor-theologian, Friedeman
brings to the department the heart of a pastor and the mind of a scholar.
Friedeman holds a B.A. in Ancient Languages from Asbury University, an M.A.
in Biblical Literature from Wesley Biblical Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Biblical
Theology (New Testament) from Wheaton College. His doctoral dissertation
focused on the Christology of Luke chapters 1 and 2 and its

A flurry of athletics activity ensued over the weekend on Ohio Christian
University's (OCU) campus as OCU hosted a regional training for referees, a
local clinic for school-aged children looking to improve their
softball skills, and some sporting events as well. In addition to playing
host, the conference recognized one OCU athlete as Women’s Soccer Offensive
Player of the week. Details of this weekend's activities follow:

Samuel Church came to Ohio Christian University (OCU) looking to make a
difference. Growing up in Toledo, OH in a struggling economy, Samuel
experienced his family digging deep to overcome the challenge. “There
weren’t expectations of rising and doing anything big, but I decided not to
settle for that,” he recalls.
Samuel focused his energy and effort on athletics where he excelled, and OCU
recruited him to join the track team. When he visited the campus in
Circleville, OH, he was unsure what the future held. But, he remembers,
