NEW ALBANY, IN – Playing their fourth game in seven days, the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers took on the Grenadiers of Indiana University Southeast on Saturday. Despite a strong second half performance, the Trailblazers saw too many mistakes in the first half come back to bite them, as the Grenadiers went on to win 84-65.
IU Southeast jumped out of the gates early to seize momentum, as a 15-4 run in the final 6:09 of the first half gave the Grenadiers a 45-26 lead at the intermission.
Following halftime, the Trailblazers began to reap the benefits of increased aggression and mid-game adjustments to hang with their opponent for the final 20 minutes. Despite falling down by as many as 24, OCU tied IU Southeast in the second half 39-39.
Four Trailblazers finished the day in double figures, led by Juan Woods (FR/Pickerington, OH) with 14. Rashard German (FR/North Lauderdale, FL) came in off the bench for the second consecutive game to provide 12 points on 4-9 shooting from behind the arc.
"IUSE really jumped on us with their pressure in the first half, and we did not respond well," said Head Coach Casey Coons. "I was proud of our guys for coming out in the second half and competing. We just need to put two halves together, especially against a tough team like them on the road."
Ohio Christian will now return home to face the Golden Bears of West Virginia Tech on Tuesday evening in the Maxwell Center.
