CIRCLEVILLE, OH – The Trailblazers looked to end their winless two-game drought against a 5-0 Mount Vernon Nazarene team tonight in The Maxwell Center. The MVNU team was coming off a win against Madonna University last Saturday, so they were looking to keep their streak alive.

The Cougars jumped out to a 13-3 lead to begin the game in the first three minutes. The Trailblazers struggled to find the hoop and hadn't gotten to double digits until seven minutes into the first half. By then the score was still attainable at 10-18. The Trailblazers kept it within ten points going into just six minutes left in the first half and that's when MVNU blew the doors open and finished the half up 22. At this point the field goal percentage was the name of the game with OCU shooting at just 27.8% with about the same percentage from the arc at 27.3%, while Mount Vernon let loose at a clip of 61.3% from the field and 56.3% from the perimeter.

The second half was unfortunately nothing different than the first as the teams never saw a closer game than the differential that the halftime score portrayed. The Cougars kept it on average separated by at least 26 points for the remainder of the game, ending the regulation time in a Trailblazer defeat of 72-99.

The Blazers saw three players in double digits in Jimmy Salamone leading the team with 19, followed by Ben Casey with 12 and Cam Primmer at 11. Salamone and Casey also had four and three steals, respectively to add to their stat sheet.

As they've had quite a rough start to their 21-22 season, the Trailblazers find a small break in gameplay until next Tuesday as they travel with the women's team up to Grand Rapids, MI to face off against Grace Christian University for their fourth game of the season.
