On Oct. 28, Ohio Christian University students gathered in a sea of flannels and costumes to celebrate the annual Fall Fest. The event, hosted by the Student Involvement Council, is a time for students to gather and celebrate fall together in the final months before winter. The celebration included several outdoor games and activities. Some students tested their aiming skills in archery while others faced off against each other in a game of cornhole. Representatives from Ohio Christian University’s Emergency and Disaster Management Program recently joined their new disaster partner, the Mennonites, at the Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) Region 2 Conference. The event took place in Rosedale, Ohio on Oct. 25-27. The Mennonite Disaster Service is a network of Anabaptist churches that responds in Christian love to those affected by disasters. While their primary focus is on clean up, repair, and rebuilding homes, they expand beyond these activities. Their service touches lives and nurtures hope, faith, and wholeness. Emergency

This summer, Ohio Christian University’s orchestra went on its third mission trip to Japan. From Jul. 29 to Aug. 17, students had the opportunity to share not only their musical talents but their passion for spreading the gospel. The orchestra directors, Roger and Linda Stieg, completed their graduate work at the Talent Education Institute in Matsumoto, Japan. After graduation, the Steigs were asked to come back to play some concerts. They agreed to return, hoping to be an example of how God can use even musical talent to help fulfill the Great Commission. Over 460 students from Ohio Christian University and local high schools through a partnership with United Way of Pickaway County came together on Oct. 9 to serve the community. During OCU’s 21st annual Ralph C. Starkey Community Action Day, students engaged in clean up and restoration projects at 44 sites throughout Circleville and the surrounding county. Ohio Christian University was recently ranked as offering one of the best online baccalaureate programs in Logistics Management. The university was ranked 8th out of 15 by the Online Schools Report (OSR), which serves as a resource for students pursuing online programs. According to OSR, their rankings are based on six data points: three schoolwide and three program-specific. For schoolwide, OSR uses student satisfaction, admission rates, and the number of programs the school offers online. Twenty-two Ohio Christian University students are participating in the University’s 2018 summer camps counseling program. These students have completed over 50 hours of training over the course of their spring semester to prepare them to effectively and confidently serve at 16 camps for children in over five states this summer. The Pastors Conference of the 2018 Leadership Forum provided inspiring sessions that shared valuable lessons in pastoral leadership. The Conference began with inspirational worship led by Ohio Christian University’s ABLAZE student music and vocal group singing spirit-filled songs and hymns of praise.  Their performance created a beautiful time for experiencing the Holy Spirit’s refreshing presence.
