Ohio Christian University’s Scholars Day competition for the first Commitment to Excellence full-ride scholarships has successfully concluded, and we are proud to announce that Mike Conway and Hannah Skaggs have been selected as the scholarship recipients.
After three rounds of interviews, these two outstanding students received the highest marks and were personally awarded by Phil Hooks, the Vice President of Enrollment, with their scholarship certificate and an official scholarship award letter from President Smith. The Scholars Day panelists were thoroughly impressed by all of the candidates this year, and our two winners had strong competition during the interview process. However, we are confident that Mike and Hannah will be well-deserving of their Commitment to Excellence awards.
Mike Conway is a graduating homeschool student from Louisville, OH who has already completed almost 70 hours of dual enrollment credit. He is an active member in his church and enjoys leading worship and volunteering as a student leader. Mike has also invested many years into Boy Scouts and earned the highest rank of an Eagle Scout. He now invests in Boy Scouts as an adult leader. Right now, Mike is interested in studying Sport Business Management at Ohio Christian University and potentially double majoring while also participating in worship leadership opportunities.
Hannah Skaggs is graduating from Seneca High School in Louisville, KY, and she is heavily involved in her school, church and volleyball team. Hannah has incredible leadership qualities which she uses as a Seneca school ambassador, the President of Seneca High School’s National Honors Society, and a Fellowship of Christian Athletes character coach. She also serves as a captain for her volleyball team and hopes to continue her volleyball career at Ohio Christian University while pursuing her long-term goal of becoming a high school math educator.
Ohio Christian University is very excited to add these two Commitment to Excellence recipients to our Trailblazer family, and we look forward to seeing them continue their academic and spiritual journey on campus this fall.

OCU School of Education Earns 7 Year CAEP Accreditation

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation has granted 7 years
of accreditation to the Teacher Education Program at Ohio Christian
University, the highest award the organization allows. The current
Accreditation has been granted at the initial-licensure level for all major
concentrations OCU offers at the undergraduate level for Teacher Education
Preparation.
CAEP Accreditation is granted when the Accreditation Council determines that
an Educator Preparation Provider (EPP) meets all CAEP Standards, even if
areas for improvement (AFIs) are identified in the final

31st Annual Golf Scholarship Tournament A Success

Ohio Christian University’s (OCU) 31st Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament
occurred on Monday, May 16th at Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City, Ohio.
Twenty-four four-person teams enjoyed a round of golf raising over $50,000 to
fund scholarships for current students. These OCU Scholarships are awarded to
current campus students each spring at the Annual Scholarship Banquet.
"The golf tournament is one of our major fund-raising events for student
scholarships," explained OCU President Dr. Jon Kulaga. "The engagement and
generosity of each of the golfers is critical to our ability to assist

on Saturday, June 19th, at the Pickaway Country Club Golf Course. Four-person
teams enjoyed a round of golf, raising over $40,000 to fund scholarships for
current students. These OCU Scholarships are awarded to current campus
students each year at the Annual Scholarship Banquet.

Ohio Christian University’s 3rd annual Scholar’s Day Competition took
place on Saturday, Feb. 29th and brought in 36 qualifying participants to
compete for our $50,000 scholarships and full-tuition Distinguished
Trailblazer Scholarship.
Ohio Christian awards six $50,000 scholarships, which include paid internship
opportunities on campus. These scholarships, named the Creative Communities,
Homeschool Excellence, and Ohio’s Future Scholarships, focus on three
different areas: small population high school students, homeschool students,
and students of diversity. The Distinguished

As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to surge, Ohio Christian University has
transitioned to all online courses through the end of the semester. In the
midst of these trying times, many businesses have found ways to support those
impacted by the repercussions of the measures taken to slow down the spread
of the virus.

Audition Day for Performing Arts Scholarships

The Ohio Christian University Department of Music is holding a Performing
Arts Audition Day following Scholars Day on February 29th to allow
prospective students to audition for a Performing Arts Scholarship.
High school seniors and juniors and incoming transfer students planning to
