On May 2, 2026, Ohio Christian University was honored to welcome parents, families, and distinguished guests to celebrate the Class of 2026 at our 74th Commencement Ceremony at the main campus located at 1476 Lancaster Pike, Circleville, Ohio.

The ceremony opened with a meaningful invocation by Dr. Mike Holbrook, General Superintendent and Chairman of the Board representing the Churches of Christ in Christian Union, setting a reverent tone and inviting God’s presence into this significant occasion.

Under the leadership of Ohio Christian University President,  Ryan D. Saunders, the ceremony recognized not only the academic achievements of our graduates, but also their spiritual growth and commitment to Christ-centered service.

The service was enriched through expressions of worship. The Worship Collective, featuring Mackenzie Mash, Carita Sanders, and John Grabans, offered a powerful song of encouragement, “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” reminding graduates of God’s constant presence as they step into the next season of life. The OCU Chorale under the direction of Dr. Dione Bennett,  brought forth praise and thanksgiving through a moving selection of songs, lifting hearts in gratitude and celebration for all that God has done.

A special highlight of the ceremony was the conferral of the Honorary Doctorate, Doctor of Humane Letters, presented to Jim Tressel, who also served as the commencement speaker. His remarks challenged and inspired graduates to lead with character, humility, and a commitment to service, encouraging them to make a lasting impact in their communities and beyond.

Following the ceremony, President and Mrs. Saunders hosted a private luncheon with approximately 70 guests along with Lt. Governor Tressel and Mrs. Tressel. This special gathering provided an opportunity for fellowship and partnership. Through the generosity of those in attendance more than $300,000 was raised to strengthen the University’s financial needs as it moves into the summer months.

President Saunders shared words of vision and encouragement, calling graduates to live boldly as “Oaks of Righteousness,” grounded in faith and prepared to influence the world with integrity, compassion, and purpose.

As we commemorate this historic 74th commencement, we celebrate lives that have been shaped, strengthened, and sent out with purpose. We extend our deepest gratitude to the families and supporters who have journeyed alongside our graduates and rejoice in the bright future ahead.
