Leadership Lesson 2: The Creator is Big Enough

I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. -Psalm 145:5

Today, I want to focus on how to move forward in vision without fear. Now I understand that we all have fear--it is human to have it! But I have learned that operating from fear destroys vision. When coming to OCU, I declared we would grow from 400 to 2000. I was scared to death, except I knew that God had called me and I knew he would be with me.

Don’t miss what I just said: reliance on God brings courage. Sometimes we forget who is in control. After all, it is the Creator God. I visited Yosemite today. It is 14,000 ft. at its highest point with 3000 ft. waterfalls! While standing in awe, my wife said to me,”This makes me want to sing How Great Thou Art.” In that moment I understood what Joshua understood. The Creator God is BIG enough! He had a right view of God. He relied on God and had a promise from God that we must adopt.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. -Joshua 1:9, KJV.

This verse is life-changing. Leaders lead on without fear. Take territories for God's kingdom. As I read this verse and looked at the beauty and majesty of Yosemite, I again was reminded that I AM is great enough to sustain us.

Do you have a Yosemite God view?

Love you all,

President Smith
