The AA in Worship Leadership is for students who want to lead authentic, Gospel-centered, life-changing worship ministry. Students experience growing musical skills and technical expertise, as they develop a biblical, pastorally-shaped perspective of worship leadership with application in the context of ministry.

Objectives:

The program is designed to prepare graduates who can:
  • Demonstrate growing musicianship.
  • Lead other musicians in ministry.
  • Articulate biblical convictions for worship ministry.

Explore the full enrichment of the traditional collegiate experience and make new friends on our lively campus in Circleville Ohio. Serves 17-24 year-old undergraduate students.

Worship16
  • The ministry and calling of a worship leader, including current leadership and ministry practices, an introduction to worship planning, and a survey of biblical and historical foundations of worship. Overview of the OCU Worship Leadership program, including typical career opportunities.
  • Participation in an approved setting with an experienced worship leader as part of a local church or youth group worship band, or an auditioned worship group. Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory;
    Prerequisite: WOR1100
  • Assistant role in worship planning, band rehearsal and service leadership in an approved setting with an experienced worship leader, leading a local church or youth group worship band. Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory;
    Prerequisite: WOR1102 or permission of the instructor
  • Worship electives in WORXXXX*12

*Includes up to six hours from CHS, THE3250, MUS3060. Up to six hours of Worship electives may apply toward GenEd Religion or Humanities requirements. See your advisor for help choosing courses that meet both requirements.

Graduation Requirements:

In addition to the courses listed on this page, graduates must meet the requirements listed here, including:

  • A General Education Core
    • Associate degrees – 36 credit hours
    • Bachelor’s degrees – 45 credit hours
  • Minimum credit hours
    • Associate degrees – 60 credit hours
    • Bachelor’s degrees – 120 credit hours
  • Notes:

    1. Some majors require more credit hours than the listed minimums.
    2. Students choose elective courses to complete credit hour requirements.
    3. Electives may apply toward a minor, certificate, associate degree, or second major.
    4. Sometimes a course required in a student’s major can also fulfill a requirement in the GenEd core. (See notes on the individual major pages.)
