Richie French Flirts with No-Hitter against Lincoln Christian at NCCAA World Series

CINCINNATI, OH - OCU was unable to take advantage of a memorable pitching performance on Thursday as OCU lost 4-3 in extra innings to Lincolng Christian.

OCU pitcher Richie French (Waverly, OH) carried a no-hitter through 6 innings on day #2 of the NCCAA World Series.  Despite the spectacular pitching performance, OCU found themselves trailing 2-0 heading into the 7th inning.

Lincoln Christian capitalized on another day of OCU fielding miscues, as Trailblazer errors led to a pair of early runs by Lincoln.  OCU rallied for two runs in the top of the 7th inning to tie the score at 2-2 and force extra innings.

In extra innings, OCU claimed their first lead of the game as they took a 3-2 lead to steal the momentum in the top of the 8th inning.  The excitement was short lived though as Lincoln rallied for two runs in the bottom of the inning to seal the victory and end the OCU baseball season.

OCU suffered a setback on day one of the NCCAA World Series as the Trailblazers committed 4 fielding errors in a 4-1 loss to Dallas Christian College.

Freshman Cory Haner gave the Trailblazers a 1-0 lead with an RBI base hit in the first inning but it would be only run of the day for OCU.  Dallas answered back with 4 unanswered runs, fueled in large part by Trailblazer miscues in the field.

Dallas went on to pick up a 4-1 victory in the double elimination tournament.  OCU will now prepare to face Lincoln Christian at 11:00AM on Thursday.  Lincoln lost to Florida Christian 8-1 in day one of the series.  The loser of this game will be eliminated and the winner will advance.
