James Nelson Shines in Ohio College All-Star Classic

 

COLUMBUS, OH - James Nelson made the most of his selection to the 5th Annual Ohio College All-Star Basketball Classic over the weekend.  The 6'8" senior helped lead his Jump25 All-Star team to a victory over the Quicken Loans All-Stars at Ohio Dominican University.

Nelson showed well in a game that featured many of the top NCAA Division 1 players from Ohio, including Jordan Crawford (Bowling Green), Ivo Baltic (Ohio Univ), Brian Walsh (Akron), Randal Holt (Kent State), and Evan Ravenel (Ohio State).  

Nelson was coached by former OSU Buckeye and All-Big Ten selection Ron Stokes.  

Nelson played a big role for his team as he went 8 of 9 from the field for 16 points.  He also added 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals in the victory.

"James really showed that be belonged in this game and that he can play with top talent," commented OCU Head Coach Tony Stockman.  "It was a great opportunity and he made the most of it. He represented OCU basketball very well."

Nelson was edged out in the MVP voting by Randol Holt of Kent State who tossed in a game high 19 points.
