La Salle Guard Brandon Irby Joins Trailblazers

CINCINNATI, OH - OCU Basketball is pleased to announce the addition of Brandon Irby.  Irby signed his letter of intent on the campus of OCU with his father Don Irby in attendance.  Irby comes to the Trailblazers after a successful prep career at La Salle High School where he played for head coach Dan Fleming.

Under the direction of Coach Fleming, Irby helped lead La Salle to a 21-2 record during his senior season as the Lancers were ranked #2 in the final state of Ohio AP Poll. La Salle went 26-2 during his junior year, winning the 2011 OHSAA Division 1 State Championship 59-40 over Columbus Northland.  Irby enjoyed a memorable senior season as he was honored as the 2012 Tom Fleming Award Winner for his commitment and work ethic.  Irby was also honored by having one of his performances on the court voted as the Cincinnati Play of the Week during his senior year.

"Brandon is known for his motor and has an extra gear that we really like," commented OCU Head Coach Tony Stockman.  "He comes from a winning program at La Salle and he is no stranger to hard work, discipline, and commitment.  We expect great things from him at OCU over the next four years."

Irby joins an OCU basketball program that went 27-10 last season on their way to a first ever NCCAA Final Four appearance.  The Blazers tipoff their season in November against NAIA affiliate Indiana University East.

Brandon Irby scored 12 points in a 58-37 win at Cincinnati Elder.
