Men's Soccer Coach

Head Coach Josh Murton

Josh Murton was hired by Ohio Christian University in 2008.  Since his arrival, OCU has won 10 or more games every year since.  In 2008 his men finished 10-5-1 (a school record at the time).  In 2009, the men finished 3rd in the Nation with a record of 17-6-1 (a school record at the time).  In 2010, the OCU men reached their first National Championship game and finished #2 in the nation with a record of 14-9-0.  2011, the OCU men broke the school record in win percentage with a 17-4-2 record and finished 4th in the nation losing in the national semifinals.  2012 marked the fourth year in a row that OCU finished 4th or better in the nation as they finished with a 11-9-3 record.  After five years, Josh Murton is the schools winningest coach with 69 wins and his teams hold the only regional banners in OCU history, four (2009, '10, '11, '12).

Murton also is the head coach for the OCU Women's soccer team which was started in 2009 in which he has led them to 4 regional finals.  He also is an Associate Professor in Sports Management for OCU.

Coach Murton has been active in the coaching ranks since 2002 coaching at the club, high school and college levels. Since 2009 he has coached at Ohio South State Olympic Development Program (ODP) for both girls and guys teams.  He has led his club teams at Pride Soccer Club to the finals at the Creek Classic and Staburst Tournaments, while also focusing on excellence in integrity, academics and sportsmanship. His teams have been awarded the MOSSL Sportsmanship award, OSHAA Southeast Region All-Academic team (3 times) and the OSHAA Southeast Region Sportsmanship Awards.

A native of Chillicothe, Ohio, Murton graduated from the University of Cincinnati where he was part of the UC Football team as an Assistant Video Coordinator and recruiter. After graduating from UC, Murton was in the Commercial Real Easte business as a Consultant. Realizing that education was where he wanted to be, he left his job and pursued a teaching career. In 2002, he started coaching for Zane Trace High School and became the Business Teacher there in 2003. In 2005 he made a move to Teays Valley High School where he coached and taught for 3 years.

Coach Murton holds his USSF National D License and is currently finishing up work on his USSF C License.

Coach Murton and his wife Laura, reside in South Bloomfield, Ohio and have a son Jack (5), a daughter Emma (3) and Olivia (6 months).

 

Volunteer Assistant Coach Erik McNeil 

Erik McNeil returns to OCU for his second year as a volunteer assistant. Erik holds an OSYSA E License and assists in all areas including practice and recruiting.

Graduate Assistant Kevin Street

Kevin Street comes to OCU coaching staff after graduating from OCU in 2011 as a graduate assistant. While an undergrad, Kevin was a captain for the men's program for two seasons. Playing for three years, he helped lead OCU to new heights and was honored with 1st Team All-American honors in 2009 and 2010. He also was named Player of the Year in the Mid East Region in 2010 and was a 1st Team All-Region Player all three of his years.
 
A graduate from Chillicothe High School, Kevin helped the Cavaliers to district and conference titles. Kevin holds the USSF National D License and the NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma. Kevin has coached for First Capital Soccer club for the past two seasons.
 
Coach Murton is excited for bringing Kevin Street on. "Bringing Kevin on is a huge step for this program. His discipline and competitive nature will help add to our program and I know he will leave a positive legacy one that is more than just playing on the field."
 
Kevin is engaged to Samantha Miller and will be married on November 17th and he resides in Grandview, Ohio.
