OCU Women Advance to Face KCU in Regional Title Game

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Ohio Christian shot 41.7 percent from three-point range in the second half on its way to a 60-43 win on Friday over visiting Johnson University in a NCCAA Mid-East Region semifinal game on Friday night.

The Trailblazers (18-11) play #1 seeded Kentucky Christian at 1 p.m. on Saturday for the Mid-East Region Championship.

OCU led 20-15 at halftime, despite shooting just 20.5 percent (8 of 39) from the field. The Trailblazers shot 39.5 percent (17 of 43) from the field in the second half, and hit five of 12 three-pointers they attempted.

The Trailblazers outscored Johnson 40-28 in the second half.

Asia Woodson made 9 of 16 shots, including 3 of 5 from three-point range, to lead all scorers with 22 points. Katelyn Danner added 10 points, and Chelsea Black and Kara Zwick added six each. Zwick also accounted for 12 rebounds.

Johnson had 25 turnovers, compared to 15 for OCU, which also held a 44-32 rebounding edge, including pulling down 24 offensive rebounds.

Destiny Turner had four steals for OCU and Maritza Will had 10 rebounds.

Amanda Shike and Whitney Moore led Johnson with 10 points each.
