Southeastern Tops Lady Blazers 62-53 at Valley Forge Classic

PHILADELPHIA, PA - OCU took on NAIA affiliate, Southeastern University, from Lakeland, Florda on day one of the Hersha Hospitality Classic on Thursday afternoon.  Southeastern came out on top over the Blazers by a score of 62-53 but OCU put up a good fight and came up just short in a dramatic comeback bid.

Southeastern came out hot in the first half and pushed the lead to as many as 17 points in the 2nd half.  Ohio Christian fought back and got big stops on defense to cut into the Fire lead.  The Blazers trimmed the Southeastern lead from 17 points down to just 5 points with three minutes remaining.

With a 5 point lead and under three minutes remaining, Southeastern converted on a ten foot runner as the shot clock expired to push the lead to 7 points.  OCU senior Kara Zwick answered with a quick basket on the other end to get back to within 5 points once again.  OCU was forced to foul down the stretch and Southeastern converted to push the lead to 9 points by the final horn.

Senior guard Shelby Roe tossed in a team high 18 points for Ohio Christian.  Senior forward Kara Zwick added 17 points.

The Blazers now sit at 3-2 on the season and will take on host Valley Forge Christian College at 6:00 PM on Friday night.
