Women's Soccer Coach

2012 marked the fourth year of existance for Ohio Christian University women's soccer program.  In those four years Coach Josh Murton has led the OCU women to 4 regional championships in the NCCAA.  With an overall record of 18-41-2, Coach Murton see's the future bright for women's soccer.  "Were only four years in existance and were growing each year and seeing improvements each year.  It is tough starting a program up.  You need to be patient and persistant.  I am proud of what we have accomplished on and off the field, but I know good days are coming our way."

Murton started as the men's soccer coach in 2008 and now heads both programs at OCU.  His men's program have reached the final four in the NCCAA every year the past four years and made it to the National Championship in 2010.  Coach Murton is also an associate professor of Sports Management.

Coach Murton has been active in the coaching ranks since 2002 coaching at the club, high school and college levels. Since 2009 he has coached the Ohio South State Olympic Development Program (ODP) Girls and Boys Teams.  Coach Murton also coaches at Pride Soccer Club as a staff coach and has been there since 2006.  His teams have reached the finals at the Creek Classic and Staburst Tournaments, while also focusing on excellence in integrity, academics and sportsmanship. His teams have been awarded the MOSSL Sportsmanship award, OSHAA Southeast Region All-Academic team (3 times) and the OSHAA Southeast Region Sportsmanship Awards.

A native of Chillicothe, Ohio, Murton graduated from the University of Cincinnati where he was part of the UC Football team as an Assistant Video Coordinator and recruiter. After graduating from UC, Murton was in the Commercial Real Easte business as a Consultant. Realizing that education was where he wanted to be, he left his job and pursued a teaching career. In 2002, he started coaching for Zane Trace High School and became the Business Teacher there in 2003. In 2005 he made a move to Teays Valley High School where he coached and taught for 3 years.

Coach Murton holds his USSF National D License and is currently finishing up work on his USSF C License. 

Coach Murton and his wife Laura, reside in South Bloomfield, Ohio and have a son Jack (5), a daughter Emma (3) and Olivia (6 months)
