On February 9-10, Ohio Christian University was honored to host the Christian Communicators of America Speech and Debate Tournament. High school students filled nearly every building on campus as they debated
and gave speeches on a variety of subjects.

The Chistian Communicators of America is an organization that provides homeschool students the opportunity to develop their skills in public speaking, debate, and research. One CCA director said of the organization,
“…everybody, no matter what their job that they have, eventually ends up speaking in front of people…we want to make sure our kids are okay with that…our point is to be able to also speak confidently to share the
gospel someday.”

Whether the subject is politics, culture, or apologetics, this organization strives to teach their students to critically-think on every topic and every issue from a biblical perspective, while also allowing the students to meet
new people and form friendships.

Former participant and now staff member of the CCA, Crystal Downing, said, “…talking to people, coming up with…things on the fly, was not intimidating to me at all because it’s…a skill that I was formulating all through
high school.”

Crystal and her husband David met at a CCA tournament and agreed, “…our club was so close growing up, having…something mutual to bond over…”

Ohio Christian University was privileged to have a part in the CCA’s Christ-centered mission to host and to serve homeschooling families across America.
